Dogger Bank offshore wind farm wins government approval

As a supplier to some of the UK's offshore wind farms, we were delighted to hear the news yesterday, that the UK Government has approved plans for what is believed to be one of the world's largest offshore wind farm projects.

The wind farm named Dogger Bank would be built off the coast of Yorkshire and as a business based in Yorkshire we couldn't be prouder to have such a fantastic project come to our shores.

According to the BBC News, Dogger Bank Creyke Beck A and B would be built 77 miles (125km) off the Yorkshire coast.

Forwind Ltd said it would consist of 400 wind turbines producing up to 2,400 MW of electricity, enough to power nearly two million homes.

Energy and Climate Change Secretary Ed Davey said the development had the potential to support hundreds of jobs.

The project is expected to start in 2019.
